Question about Scholarships in California

Been pouring over academic papers and rescuing lost students in the library stacks for little over years now. Wouldn't trade it for anything, but that's not why I'm here today. Basically, I've got Stanford on the mind lately been toying with the idea of pursuing my Master's degree there. Not just because their campus is so dang beautiful, or because their football team keeps crushing ours (just tad bitter, don't mind me), but because they're world-renowned for their programs.

And hey, who doesn't want to boost their brain power bit, right? But digress. My question for you all is about the application process at Stanford. What are they looking for in potential candidate? What kind of hoops did you have to jump through? What surprised you? Do they really prefer someone who can juggle while reciting Shakespeare and coding an bot, or is that just campus legend? I've been on the other side of academia for so long, feel like might need refresher course on being student again: Masters course would be one heck of way to dive back into it!
