Any Tips for Saving Money While Studying in New York?

I'm coordinator over at Santa Clara University, ensuring that all of our students get the opportunities they deserve, disability or not. Speaking of opportunities, find myself in unique one my niece has been accepted into both UCLA and Berkeley for Computer Science. Impressive, right? Know we have some Bruins and Golden Bears here, so was hoping you could share some insight about the programs at these schools. I've done the Uncle Google search and honestly, they both sound stellar ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

But you know as well as do that nothing beats hearing from someone who's actually experienced it. How's the faculty? Are there ample research opportunities? Do they provide any hands-on experience? And just out of curiosity (and because I'm stickler for accessibility), how inclusive are these programs? My niece doesn't have disability, but knowing that an institution is committed to equal opportunities gives me peace of mind. Hope you folks can help me out here. And remember try not to let your school pride cloud your judgment. Just kidding! Or am I.? Oh, and S., she's equally terrified and thrilled about relocating to either or Berkeley from her small hometown.

So any advice on making that transition smoother would be much appreciated too!

I've picked up a few tips that might help you out in New York. First off, I totally get the hustle of working since high school to chip in for college expenses. It's no joke trying to balance work and studies.

One thing that's been a game-changer for me is applying for scholarships like crazy. There are so many out there, and every little bit helps when you're trying to make ends meet. Also, consider living with roommates or in more affordable areas outside of the city if you can swing it. Rent prices in Cali can be brutal too, so finding a budget-friendly spot is key. And hey, cooking at home instead of eating out saves major moolah - plus, it's better for the planet!

I'm all about that nonprofit and public service life too - gotta make a positive impact, right? Have you thought about seeking out internships or part-time gigs related to your field of study? They can be great resume boosters and sometimes even pay! How are you finding the adjustment from Cali college life to New York vibes? It must be quite the change!
