Anyone else applying for the Cal Grant this year? Hey there, fellow California college enthusiasts! Am currently embarking on the (somewhat nerve-wracking) journey of helping my son apply for the Cal Grant this year. Ahh, the joys of parenting, right? My kiddo is studying architecture over at Cal Poly SLO absolutely loves it there, and couldn’t be happier for him.
But let's not sugarcoat things. College life comes with its share of financial burdens that sometimes hit harder than strong Cali earthquake. Over cup of coffee (and several web pages), I've been scouring information regarding the Cal Grant. It seems like godsend but also feels like we're tiptoeing through minefield of forms, numbers, and deadlines. Boy!
Understand it's based on financial need, GPA, and some other aspects too. Right? Does anyone have any insider tips or bits of wisdom they could share about navigating this process? And while I'm at it, how was your experience getting your student to adjust to college life? Did you feel like fish out of water too or is it just me?
My son’s transition from high school senior to freshman at Cal Poly had its bumpy moments. Late-night phone calls about laundry malfunctions, figuring out meal plans, even mastering the art of sharing dorm space with complete strangers it’s all part of the rollercoaster ride.
