My goal is to break into the entertainment biz, and I spend my free time writing for the campus newspaper Right now, I'm wrestling with some serious future uncertainties. In my courses like Historical Methods and World History, I'm struggling with source evaluation and crafting historical arguments for research papers. Can anyone drop some tips on how to handle student loans in California?

Here's what I wish someone told me freshman year:

• Community college first (if you're still early). Saved me like $30k.
• Apply for EVERY scholarship, even the $500 ones. They add up.
• Work-study in your field (campus newspaper counts!). Connections > cash sometimes.
• CAL GRANTS — if you're a CA resident, make sure your FAFSA is filed by March 2nd. Free money, not loans.
