Right now, I'm knee-deep in courses like Climate Science, Conservation Biology, and Environmental Policy, but I'm struggling to find field research and data collection opportunities. 😕 I've heard about the UC TAG program but unsure if it's worth it for an Environmental Science major like me. Any fellow UC students have experience with TAG for transfer opportunities?
• Don't forget to ask for letters of recommendation early
• Visit campuses if you can, it makes a big difference
Also, any advice on finding research opportunities in California? I love intramural sports and staying active, but my focus is on making a difference in the environmental field. Any tips would be much appreciated! 🌎✨.

The UC system has so many hidden research gems. Like the FLOWS program at CSUSB—it's a field-based thing where you do actual water research across California with Tribal communities and agencies . They pay for accommodations and give you gear. Applications were due Nov 7 for this year, but bookmark for next cycle! Also, UC Santa Barbara has FUERTE—literally a multi-year fieldwork program in the Eastern Sierra . Transformative stuff. Point is: specialized programs exist.
