Has anyone tried active recall method for Anatomy finals?

My kid, USC student-athlete, is grinding hard for Anatomy finals. He's thinking about trying active recall method. Anyone have experiences to share? How effective was it? Gearing up to join Berkeley (fingers crossed), but the cost of living has me biting my nails.
