I used an AI writing detector to check my own work before submitting, and now I'm paranoid

I have this new anxiety: I write my paper, then I run it through an AI writing detector to make sure it won't get flagged. The problem is, the detector sometimes says my writing is 15-20% AI-generated, even though I wrote every word myself. Now I'm obsessively editing my papers to try to get the score down to zero, which is probably making my writing worse.

I'm adding random sentence fragments, varying my sentence length unnaturally, and avoiding certain words that seem 'too AI.' It's exhausting and counterproductive. I feel like I'm writing for the detector instead of for my professor. Has anyone else fallen into this trap?

How do you stop worrying about detectors and just write normally? I shouldn't have to make my writing worse just to prove I'm human.

Stop using detectors. Seriously. They're known to be inaccurate and flag human writing constantly. You're making yourself crazy for no reason. Your professor isn't running every paper through a detector anyway. Just write normally.
