Hey everyone. I'm currently at a CC in the East Bay and I'm trying to finalize my transfer applications, mostly for CSUs like East Bay, SF State, and maybe SJSU. I thought I had everything figured out with assist.org, but I'm running into a wall and my counselor's next appointment is weeks away.
My main issue is that I took some classes that were originally meant for a UC path (like, heavy on the theory), and now I'm pivoting to a more practical major at a CSU (Business Admin). assist.org shows the major prep fine, but I'm getting conflicting info about my General Ed.
One counselor told me to finish IGETC, but another said for the CSUs I'm looking at, the CSU GE pattern might be better because some of my UC-specific classes won't count towards area B or D. I don't want to waste time and money on classes I don't need. I'm already on a tight schedule.
Has anyone here transferred from a CC to a CSU with a messy GE history? How did you handle it? Did you have to take extra classes after transferring to catch up on requirements? I'm trying to map this all out on my own, and it feels like trying to solve a Rubik's cube in the dark. I'd appreciate any tips from people who have been through this bureaucratic maze. Thanks. ✌
